  1. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY OBSERVED GLOBALLY:
  2. World Environment Day (WED) was observed globally on 5 June 2015 with theme: Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care. The host country for the WED 2015 is Italy and the celebrations will be organized by Expo Milano 2015. The day is observed to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
  3. CYCLONIC STORM ASHOBAA: FIRST TROPICAL STORM OF THE SEASON:
  4. Cyclonic storm Ashobaa in Arabian Sea is the first tropical storm of the premonsoon season in the Indian seas.
    The cyclonic storm was formed after intensified deep depression (low pressure zone) was developed over east central Arabian Sea about 590 km west southwest of Mumbai, 470 km southwest of Veraval (Gujarat) and 960 km east-southeast of Masirah Island (Oman).

  5. UNION GOVERNMENT GIVES NOD TO PROMULGATION OF ORDINANCE TO AMEND NEGOTIABLE INSTRUMENTS ACT, 1881:
  6. Union Government has given nod for promulgation of Ordinance to amend Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The ordinance paves way for filing of cheque bounce cases in place where the cheque was issued. This move that will benefit around 18 lakh people involved in such cheque bounce cases. In May 2015, The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2015 was passed in Lok Sabha. However the bill was not able pass in Rajya Sabha where ruling NDA government is in minority.

  7. INDIA, BELARUS INK 6 AGREEMENTS TO BOOST CO-OPERATION :
  8. India and Belarus signed six agreements to enhance bilateral co-operation.
    The agreements were signed in presence of President Pranab Mukherjee during his state visit to Belarus.

  9. INDIA, US INK NEW 10-YEAR DEFENCE FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT :
  10. India and United States (US) have signed a new strategically important 10-year defence framework agreement on 3 June 2015.

  11. INDIA, BANGLADESH SIGNED LAND BOUNDARYAGREEMENT OF 1974 :
  12. India and Bangladesh on 6 June 2015 signed the historical 1974 Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) which would settle the 4096-kilometre-long border (India’s longest border with neighbour country) dispute between the two countries.
    According to the agreement, Bangladesh took over 111 enclaves (17160 acres of land) from India’s possession and India received 51 enclaves (7110 acres of land) from Bangladesh. Enclaves are tiny landlocked territories that each country has within the borders of the other nation. The enclaves in Assam, West Bengal, Tripura and Meghalaya come under the bill’s ambit.


  13. INDIA, NETHERLANDS SIGN MOU FOR DEVELOPMENT OF MEASLESRUBELLA VACCINES :
  14. India and Netherlands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of Measles- Rubella Vaccines.

  15. 41ST G7 SUMMIT HELD IN GERMANY :
  16. G7 Summit 2015 was held at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Germany from 7 June to 8 June 2015. This was the 41st G7 summit and the theme for the summit was: Think Ahead. Act Together.
    The Summit focused on the global economy as well as on key issues regarding foreign, security, environment and development policy. Further, the UN conferences to be held in 2015 as well as the post-2015 agenda and the issues of sanctions against Russia were also discussed.
